Job summary

Genuine Parts Company in Birmingham, AL is seeking an experienced network engineer to design, implement, and troubleshoot data communications across all locations. You will provide integration and consulting services to internal departments and systems.

Minimum 5 years in planning, implementing, and maintaining critical networking environments; on-site preferred, with potential for remote consideration for top candidates.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
• 5+ years planning, implementing, maintaining critical environments.
• 5-7 years networking experience with WAN/LAN technologies and hardware.
• WAN/LAN, data center, cloud, and branch connectivity with complex BGP routing.
• Ethernet switching, packet analysis, large-scale LAN/WAN deployments.
• Enterprise network management tools: PRTG, Fortinet Suite, Arista Cloud Vision.

Responsibilities

• Network monitoring & reporting
• Provide 3rd level network support & problem resolution
• Provide network architecture planning, design and implementation
• Interact with other corporate teams for enterprise level projects
• Provide WAN/LAN communication capacity management
• Maintain WAN/LAN documentation and business recovery procedures
• Change management, software updates and configuration management
• Evaluate & recommend networking hardware and software - data center and branch
• Operate and maintain the network management platforms
• Interact with NOC, Operations, vendors and support teams to maintain a stable network environment
• Security conscious network design
