Job summary

Synergis in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Cisco Data and Wireless Network Engineer on a direct-hire basis. The role focuses on operational support, project implementation, automation, and documentation for wired and wireless network infrastructure.

You will work with Cisco data equipment, firewalls, routing/switching, and wireless controllers (C9800); develop network automation with Python and Ansible, support security services, and participate in after-hours on-call.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 1-3 years of experience in Enterprise Data (wired) Networking.
• 1-3 years of experience in Enterprise Wireless Networking.
• CCNA level knowledge; certification a plus.

Responsibilities

• Implement and expand automation to optimize operational efficiency.
• Engineering project implementation and day-to-day operations for network infrastructure.
• Apply knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, WAN/LAN, and Ethernet to configure networks.
• Support network vulnerability management and remediation.
• Coordinate with Field Operations Technicians for installation and troubleshooting.
• Perform end-to-end troubleshooting for data and wireless LAN networks.
• Participate in rotating after-hours on-call rotation.
