Job summary

Soft Tech Consulting is seeking a Senior Network Engineer for an existing government client in Alexandria, VA. The role requires U.S. citizenship and an interim secret clearance with upgrade to top secret.

Onsite work with a focus on stabilizing data networks and security. The engineer will manage routers, switches, and encryptors, design robust LAN/WAN/VPNs, and ensure reliable operations while supporting network modernization initiatives.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of network engineering experience.
• Must obtain a Juniper certification within 6 months of employment.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, and OSPF.
• Experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS.
• Clear communication skills.
• Minimum interim secret clearance with upgrade to top secret.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for network operations and engineering activities.
• Design, implement, and maintain LAN, WAN, and VPN infrastructures.
• Configure and expand IP address schemas for enterprise networks.
• Provide guidance on network architecture and technical feasibility.
• Monitor performance, troubleshoot, and optimize network resources.
• Develop design documentation and topology diagrams.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, systems, and application teams.
