Job summary

Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. (SPA) is hiring a Network Engineer in Chantilly, VA to design, implement, monitor, and manage secure networks for mission-critical environments.

The role requires hands-on configuration of routers, switches, and firewalls across multi-vendor platforms and alignment with DoD security requirements. The ideal candidate will have 8–10 years of related experience, DoD 8570/8140 certification, and an active Top Secret/SCI clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in information technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of 8-10 years directly related experience.
• Experience with routing, switching, and firewall configuration in multi-vendor environment (i.e. Dell, Cisco, Juniper).
• Experience in WAN, LAN, out-of-band management, and Storage architecture and environments.
• Problem solving and time management capabilities.
• Experience working independently and in team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• US Citizenship required, successful candidates will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
• Must possess and maintain DoD 8570 / 8140 compliant certification.
• Active security clearance (Top Secret//SCI Required) and the ability to maintain it throughoutemployment

Responsibilities

• Design and implement new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks.
• Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, troubleshoot and support network equipment including virtual and physical routers, switches, firewalls (Cisco, Dell).
• Configure firewalls, routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security.
• Maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Accurately document instances of network equipment or component failure, repair, installation, and removal.
• Investigating faults in the network, perform analysis, diagnose, and resolution of complex network problems, and recommend and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate services, troubleshooting, and resolutions with 3rd party transport providers.
• Perform capacity analysis and planning to ensure growing traffic demand.
• Coordinate and execute scheduled upgrades.
• Reporting network status to key stakeholders.
• Accurately document and maintain ATO documentation including standard operating procedure development, artifact creation, submission of artifacts to ISSM and/or government representatives.
• Assist in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for monitoring and responding to Cybersecurity continuous monitoring requirements (SIEM, Log review, validation of security controls, required hardening, etc.).
• Interface with third-party support and equipment vendors as needed.
