Job summary

Bank of Bird-in-Hand is seeking a Network Engineer to ensure reliable, secure operation of our wired, wireless, and WAN infrastructure across multiple sites, including data centers and branch offices. You will configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Fortinet firewalls, Aruba switches, and VPN services while maintaining accurate diagrams and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum five (5) years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure in a multi-site environment.
• Experience administering next generation firewalls, including policies, site-to-site and remote-access VPNs, routing, firmware maintenance, troubleshooting, and security services.
• Experience configuring and supporting switches and wireless access points, including VLANs, trunking, link aggregation, spanning tree, PoE, SSIDs, authentication, and wireless troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, IPv4 subnetting, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VLANs, VPNs, QoS, switching, routing, and network diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Configure, administer, monitor, and maintain LAN/WAN/wireless/internet/VPN infrastructure across multiple locations.
• Administer next generation firewalls and security services, including policies, NAT, VPN tunnels, firmware, backups, logging, and monitoring.
• Configure and support switches and wireless APs, VLANs, link aggregation, spanning tree, PoE, SSIDs, and wireless troubleshooting.
• Monitor network availability, performance, and capacity; investigate alerts and trends; implement corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues including routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and carrier-related problems.
• Serve as escalation resource for incidents and participate in major incident response and root cause analysis.
• Implement network designs, security controls, and baselines in partnership with Architects and Security teams.
• Plan upgrades, migrations, maintenance, and change control with testing and rollback planning.
• Coordinate with carriers, MSPs, vendors; resolve service issues and implement changes.
• Maintain network diagrams, IP assignments, circuit records, inventories, and recovery docs.
• Support network segmentation, secure connectivity, and access controls for business systems and third-party services.
• Review firewall rules, configurations, firmware levels, and resiliency; document findings and remediation.
• Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity exercises validating dependencies and recovery paths.
• Provide technical support for projects, share knowledge, and participate in on-call rotations and after-hours maintenance.
• Perform other duties as required.
