Job summary

VDOT is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to implement and support the agency’s IT Network infrastructure. The Sr NE performs day-to-day activities related to the support, documentation, research, analysis, and implementation of VDOT Network related infrastructure.

Candidate must have in-depth, hands-on knowledge of enterprise routers, switches, VPN concentrators, firewalls, wireless access points, and load balancers, with the ability to document topology and IP schemes.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on experience designing, installing, and troubleshooting local- and wide-area enterprise networks.
• Industry-standard networking certification (e.g., Cisco CCNA, Juniper JNCIA) is required or preferred.
• Experience with SDWAN and cloud-networking concepts is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure.
• Document topology, IP schemes, and firewall rules as required.
• Collaborate with cloud and DevSecOps teams to optimize connectivity and uptime.
• Oversee installation, documentation, and upgrades of network components.
