Job summary

University of Pennsylvania’s Information Systems & Computing division seeks a Senior Network Engineer to design, deploy, and manage a large-scale, multi-vendor network. The role focuses on Cisco and Juniper platforms across campus, data center, and WAN environments, with emphasis on automation, reliability, and incident response.

On-call rotation and on-campus presence are required. The successful candidate will lead initiatives, mentor staff, and collaborate with campus partners to align

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science required or equivalent experience.
• Expert knowledge of IPv4/IPv6 and dynamic routing (BGP/OSPF).
• Experience with Cisco Catalyst Center and Juniper gear.
• Proven enterprise network management experience.
• Linux administration and Python scripting experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain performance and capacity of a large-scale network.
• Design and support routing and switching solutions (Cisco, Juniper).
• Define standards for routing, switching, automation, monitoring.
• Engineer IPv4/IPv6 routing with BGP/OSPF/IS-IS.
• Plan and maintain network overlays (MPLS, VXLAN).
• Build automation using Python to improve deployment and operations.
