Job summary

Applied Optoelectronics, Inc. (AOI) in Sugar Land, Texas, is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to own AOI's network and security stack across multiple sites, ensuring high availability, performance, and security in 24/7 manufacturing operations.

Qualifications

• Must be authorized to work in the United States; Visa sponsorship is not available.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 7+ years’ experience in budgeting, program management, network design/implementation, troubleshooting, hardware configuration and performance tuning.
• LAN knowledge and VOIP knowledge.
• Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls – software and hardware configurations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Designs, configures, maintains, and coordinates the use of customer’s Local Area and Wide Area Networks over Site-to-Site VPN.
• Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting, scheduling upgrades, and collaborating on optimization.
• Secures network systems by enforcing policies and access controls.
• Updates and maintains network documentation and improves it as required.
• Reports network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information and managing projects.
• Keeps job knowledge current by engaging in educational opportunities and professional networks.
