Job summary

Agile Defense in Ashburn, VA, is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design, deploy, and support enterprise WAN/LAN, SD-WAN, VPNs, and perimeter security for DHS missions. The role requires 10+ years of network engineering experience and strong Cisco and firewall expertise.

You will work in a hybrid environment, travel up to 35% domestically as needed, and collaborate with program managers to align milestones with enterprise objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in MIS/CS/Engineering or related technical field with 10+ years of network engineering experience, or 14+ years without a bachelor's.
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, VPNs, VLANs).
• Expertise with Cisco technology and firewall technologies; ability to perform firewall changes.
• Hands-on SDN experience (Cisco ACI or VMware NSX).
• Delivers high-level technical leadership to meet project goals.

Responsibilities

• Engineer, maintain, configure, and troubleshoot WAN, LAN, SD-WAN, VPNs, WLAN, and perimeter security per customer standards.
• Provide Tier 2/3 escalation support for network outages and incidents; perform RCA and coordinate vendor support.
• Plan, install, and cutover network hardware upgrades, SD-WAN transitions, and cloud interconnects (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Design and maintain SD-WAN, including routing policies and QoS considerations across multiple transports.
• Maintain accurate network diagrams, topology maps, inventory databases, SOPs, and change tickets.
