Job summary

Vanderbilt University Information Technology seeks a Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and optimize network infrastructure across campus, data center, and cloud-connected environments to ensure secure, scalable connectivity.

The role provides technical leadership, mentors others, and addresses complex incidents with root-cause analysis, while collaborating with security and infrastructure teams. Hybrid work is available with on-site presence as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or related field.
Advanced networking certifications (CCNP/DevNet) preferred.
Experience with enterprise network design and security controls.

Responsibilities

Designs and implements scalable campus, data center, and cloud-connected networks.
Leads complex network initiatives with coordinated work and timelines.
Optimizes routing, switching, segmentation, and security controls.
Improves automation and delivery workflows using scripting and APIs.
Mentors engineers and shares knowledge across teams.
Responds to incidents with structured root-cause analysis.
