Job summary

The Clearing House seeks a Specialist Network Engineer to join our Winston-Salem, NC office. You will design, implement, and maintain our large-scale network infrastructure to ensure reliable operations and security.

The role requires CCNA, 5+ years in network engineering, strong OSI/TCP/IP knowledge, and ability to work 24/7 on-call for off-hour changes. Cisco hardware and vendor coordination are common across LAN/MAN/WAN environments.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
5+ years of proven experience working in network engineering or a related field.
Cisco CCNA required, a CCNP track as a plus.
Experience in network design, operational support, internetworking concepts, protocols, configuration of network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, associated software tools, and cabling in a large LAN/MAN/WAN environment. Preferable Cisco Systems.
Excellent communication, teamwork abilities, written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
Must be available for 24/7 on-call support and be able to deploy changes during off-hour change control windows.
Must be proficient with project coordination to manage the execution of maintenance activities and evaluating network outages. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Responsibilities

Participates in the planning, designing, implementation, installation, testing, supporting and maintenance of the network infrastructure.
Responsible for network system quality assurance and must be consistent with installation standards and project development methodology.
Assists in preparing project and unit budgets.
Obtain quotes and assist in the preparation of proposals for network equipment.
Must be able to create and maintain the configuration and procedural documentation for accuracy and usability. Proficient with Microsoft Office & Visio documentation/diagramming.
Must be able to develop, improve and implement efficient network utilization strategies and security standards.
Deploy and assist in the installation of equipment and cables. Ability to rack and stack equipment, up to 25 pounds.
A working knowledge of global data centers and colocation facilities.
Secure internal and external platforms by reviewing and replacing at‑risk or end-of-life (EOL) equipment and code.
Provide operations monitoring and reporting systems for all network environments.
Review of network systems hardening configurations based on company standards.
A working knowledge of network security models which include HSMs, encryption, authentication, key management and cryptography.
