Job summary

Vanguard Management Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to advise clients on network design, administration, and reliable, secure enterprise networking in the Washington, DC area.

You will guide design, plan migrations, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with internal and client teams to deliver secure, scalable networks aligned with best practices.

Qualifications

• Eight+ years in telecom equipment/vendor, service provider, or data center.
• Six+ years in traffic analysis, network management, topology design, security, performance, fault-tolerant architecture.
• BGP with iBGP, route reflection, and communities; DMVPN, NHRP, VXLAN.
• Azure networking: VNet peering, NSGs, Azure portal.
• LAN/WAN infra, Azure ExpressRoute, Cisco routing/high-availability, routing protocols, Fortinet firewalls.
• Enterprise video conferencing: Cisco collaboration.
• TCP/IP, OSPF, EIGRP, PIM, GRE, IPsec, NAT.
• Cisco Catalyst/Nexus routing and switching, load balancers.
• Cisco Secure Client and AnyConnect VPN policy configuration.
• Network and server virtualization; firewalls and intrusion prevention.
• Linux, BSD, or AIX; scripting in shell and others.
• Mobile device management and UEM platforms (Workspace ONE UEM).
• Strong written and verbal communication for management/nontechnical audiences.

The opportunity

Vanguard Management Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to advise clients on network design and administration and support reliable, secure enterprise networking.

Responsibilities

• Guide network design, administration, and technical strategy.
• Perform technical planning, systems integration, verification and validation, and cost, risk, supportability, and effectiveness analyses.
• Troubleshoot outages, unexpected behavior, and network performance issues.
• Configure network equipment and services.
• Develop implementation and migration plans, network diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Test, support, audit, and assess network environments throughout deployment against client requirements and best practices.
• Develop network management strategies and recommend operational improvements.
• Collaborate with internal and client project management and technical teams during design, development, and implementation.

Qualifications

Required

At least eight years of relevant experience with a telecommunications equipment vendor, service provider, or data center.

At least six years of experience in traffic analysis, network management, topology design, security, performance, and fault-tolerant architecture.

Hands-on experience with BGP, including iBGP, route reflection, and communities, as well as DMVPN, NHRP, and VXLAN.

Hands-on Microsoft Azure networking experience, including virtual network peering, network security groups, and the Azure portal.

Experience configuring and monitoring LAN/WAN infrastructure, Azure ExpressRoute, Cisco virtual routing and high-availability solutions, routing protocols, and Fortinet firewalls.

Experience with enterprise video conferencing infrastructure, including Cisco collaboration solutions.

Strong practical knowledge of TCP/IP, OSPF, EIGRP, PIM, GRE, IPsec, and NAT.

Hands-on experience with supported Cisco Catalyst and Nexus routing and switching platforms.

Experience configuring and monitoring load balancers.

Experience with Cisco Secure Client, including AnyConnect VPN functionality and policy configuration.

Understanding of network and server virtualization.

Knowledge of network security controls, including firewalls and intrusion prevention systems.

Experience with Linux, BSD, or AIX systems.

Experience developing scripts using shell and other scripting languages.

Knowledge of mobile device management and unified endpoint management platforms, such as Omnissa Workspace ONE UEM.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical topics to management and nontechnical audiences.
