Job summary

System One is seeking a mid to senior level Network Engineer in Lorton, VA to support a mission-critical government environment. The role focuses on network infrastructure management, network security, cross-domain solutions, and modernization efforts, serving as the primary technical expert for enterprise networking operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience or Master's with 6+ years of relevant experience.
• CCNP certification.
• Experience deploying and managing LAN and WAN Switches and Firewalls, including Cisco 2900, 4500, 9300, 9400, 6800, Nexus 9000, and Cisco Firepower, ASA.
• Strong knowledge of defense-in-depth principles, network security architecture, and common security elements.
• Experience with installation, configuration, and maintenance of network equipment.
• Experience with incident lifecycle management, incident response, and mitigation strategies.
• Network management experience with Solarwinds, WhatsUP Gold, NetQoS, NetBrain; familiar with VMWARE, Linux, Microsoft Server, and Active Directory.
• Ability to build firewall policies and optimize rules for threat prevention.
• Support for ATO reviews and audits.
• Ability to obtain DHS EOD SCI clearance.
• Education: BS degree; preferred Master's in IT Management, Engineering, or related field.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Overview

This is a senior-level network engineering role supporting a mission-critical government environment.
