Job summary

XPECT Solutions, LLC in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design, deploy, and support a complex federal network environment. You will manage multi-enclave architectures, ensuring robust IP/LAN/WAN performance and security.

The role requires a Top Secret clearance, hands-on experience with Cisco ASR platforms, BGP/EIGRP/DMVPN/GRE, and Tier 3 engineering responsibilities. On-site collaboration with federal clients is expected.

Qualifications

• Active Top Secret Clearance with ability to obtain SCI.
• Six+ years designing, developing, and implementing network solutions.
• Experience troubleshooting complex LAN and WAN issues; high-performance IP/LAN/WAN solutions.
• Extensive experience with Cisco routing platforms (ASRs).
• Deep knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, DMVPN, GRE).
• Deep knowledge of Layer 2 technologies (STP, MST, VLANs).
• Experience providing Tier 3 support and senior engineering.
• Experience with network design and traffic engineering.

Responsibilities

• Gather user network requirements and produce documentation, system requirements, and test plans.
• Install, maintain, and evaluate network and communications systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues across protocols and devices.
• Conduct network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies.
• Collaborate with team members to develop new network designs and improve solutions.
• Support continuous improvement of network deployment and operations processes.

Job Overview

We are searching for a Senior Network Engineer on an effort supporting our Federal Government Client in Huntsville, AL. The ideal candidate will provide technical engineering support for our large federal government agency’s highly complex network infrastructure environment to include multiple enclaves comprising various classification levels.

Network engineering support includes all engineering activities required to support the standard information technology lifecycle. The ideal candidate will provide design and engineering activities in support of new network solutions for a multi-enclave enterprise network environment which encompasses various technology. In addition, the candidate will provide network support on an as needed basis to resolve networking issues that have not been resolved by the first three support tiers.

Core Responsibilities

• Gather user network requirements utilizing multiple methodologies to provide necessary technical documentation, system requirements documents, systems security requirement documents, and system test plan.
• Install, maintain, and evaluate network systems and communications systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues involving various protocols, topologies, networking hardware, etc.
• Conduct network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies.
• Utilize extensive knowledge of internetworking, computer systems, routers, switches, firewalls, and peripherals to enhance understanding of current network designs and to collaborate with other team members to develop new network designs.
• Apply technical and business experience and understanding to improve processes and procedures for deploying and maintaining network infrastructure.
• Work independently and collectively to help improve network solutions and contribute to network service improvements.
• Collaborate and share knowledge with other team members.

Requirements

• Active Top Secret Clearance, with the ability to obtain SCI
  • There is a CI polygraph test that is administered by the customer once onsite
• Minimum of six (6) years of experience designing, developing, and implementing network solutions
• Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting complex Local Area Networking (LAN) issues and resolving Wide Area Networking (WAN) problems and supporting of cost-effective, high-performance IP and LAN/WAN solutions.
• Extensive experience with Cisco routing platforms, such as Aggregation Services Routers (ASRs)
• Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of routing protocols and technologies including BGP, EIGRP, DMVPN, GRE
• Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of Layer 2 technologies including STP, MST, VLANS
• Experience providing Tier 3 support and issue resolution
• Experience with network design and traffic engineering
• Experience providing senior-level engineering support

Preferred Additional Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
• Experience with Cisco Catalyst Center (DNAC) and SD-WAN operations
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher
• Experience with SDWAN implementation and operations
• Experience in network engineering within the federal intelligence community
• Ability to adhere to a disciplined troubleshooting methodology, and ensure task/mission completion, along with creating and maintaining necessary information
• Highly self-motivated and directed, with attention to detail
