Job summary

XPECT Solutions, Inc. in Huntsville, AL, seeks a Senior Network Engineer to support a large Federal Government client.

The role focuses on engineering and maintaining a multi-enclave network infrastructure with diverse classifications and rigorous security requirements. The candidate will design, implement, and troubleshoot LAN/WAN solutions, using Cisco ASR routers and advanced routing protocols, while collaborating with teams to improve network performance and security.

Qualifications

• Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility.
• Minimum 6 years designing, developing, and implementing network solutions.
• Extensive experience with Cisco routing platforms (ASR).
• Deep knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, DMVPN, GRE).
• LAN/LAN technologies, STP/MST/VLANS.

Responsibilities

• Gather user network requirements and produce technical documentation and test plans.
• Install, maintain and evaluate network systems and communications systems.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues across multiple enclaves.
• Design network architectures and perform feasibility/cost studies.
• Collaborate to develop new network designs and improve processes.

Job Overview

XPECTSolutions is looking for a Senior Network Engineer on an effort supporting our Federal Government Client in Huntsville, AL. The ideal candidate will provide technical engineering support for our large federal government agency’s highly complex network infrastructure environment to include multiple enclaves comprising various classification levels.

Network engineering support includes all engineering activities required to support the standard information technology lifecycle. The ideal candidate will provide design and engineering activities in support of new network solutions for a multi-enclave enterprise network environment which encompasses various technology. In addition, the candidate will provide network support on an as needed basis to resolve networking issues that have not been resolved by the first three support tiers.

Core Responsibilities

• Gather user network requirements utilizing multiple methodologies to provide necessary technical documentation, system requirements documents, systems security requirements documents, and system test plan.
• Install, maintain and evaluate network systems and communications systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues involving various protocols, topologies, networking hardware, etc.
• Conduct network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies.
• Utilize extensive knowledge of internetworking, computer systems, routers, switches, firewalls and peripherals to enhance understanding of current network designs and to collaborate with other team members to develop new network designs.
• Apply technical and business experience and understanding to improve processes and procedures for deploying and maintaining network infrastructure.
• Work independently and collaboratively to help improve network solutions and contribute to network service improvements.

Requirements

• Active Top Secret Clearance, with the ability to obtain SCI
  • A Counter Intelligence Polygraph is required after start.
• Minimum of six (6) years of experience designing, developing, and implementing network solutions
• Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting complex Local Area Networking (LAN) issues and resolving Wide Area Networking (WAN) problems and supporting of cost-effective, high-performance IP and LAN/WAN solutions.
• Extensive experience with Cisco routing platforms, such as Aggregation Services Routers (ASRs)
• Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of routing protocols and technologies including BGP, EIGRP, DMVPN, GRE
• Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of Layer 2 technologies including STP, MST, VLANS
• Experience providing Tier 3 support and issue resolution
• Experience with network design and traffic engineeringExperience providing senior-level engineering support
• Large enterprise environment experience
• Excellent communication skills

Preferred Additional Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher
• Experience in network engineering within the federal intelligence community
• Ability to adhere to a disciplined troubleshooting methodology, and ensure task/mission completion, along with creating and maintaining necessary information
• Highly self-motivated and directed, with attention to detail
