Job summary

XPECT Solutions, LLC in Quantico, VA is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support a Federal Government Client with design, deployment and management of a multi‑enclave network environment.

The role requires active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility (CI polygraph post‑start) and at least six years of related design and implementation experience. Strong Cisco ASR and routing/L2 tech skills are essential, with enterprise‑scale collaboration and documentation focus.

Qualifications

Six years of experience designing, developing, and implementing network solutions.
Experience troubleshooting complex LAN/WAN issues in a large enterprise environment.
Strong knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, DMVPN, GRE) and Layer 2 technologies.
Experience providing Tier 3 support and senior-level engineering in a federal/large enterprise context.

Job Overview

We are searching for a Senior Network Engineer on an effort supporting our Federal Government Client in Quantico, VA. The ideal candidate will provide technical engineering support for our large federal government agency’s highly complex network infrastructure environment to include multiple enclaves comprising various classification levels.

Network engineering support includes all engineering activities required to support the standard information technology lifecycle. The ideal candidate will provide design and engineering activities in support of new network solutions for a multi-enclave enterprise network environment which encompasses various technology. In addition, the candidate will provide network support on an as needed basis to resolve networking issues that have not been resolved by the first three support tiers.

Core Responsibilities

Gather user network requirements utilizing multiple methodologies to provide necessary technical documentation, system requirements documents, systems security requirements documents, and system test plan.
Install, maintain and evaluate network systems and communications systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues involving various protocols, topologies, networking hardware, etc.
Conduct network architecture design, feasibility and cost studies.
Utilize extensive knowledge of internetworking, computer systems, routers, switches, firewalls, and peripherals to enhance understanding of current network designs and to collaborate with other team members to develop new network designs.
Apply technical and business experience and understanding to improve processes and procedures for deploying and maintaining network infrastructure.
Work independently and collectively to help improve network solutions and contribute to network service improvements.
Collaborate and share knowledge with other team members.

Requirements

Active Top Secret Clearance, with the ability to obtain SCI
- A CI polygraph will be required after start
Minimum of six (6) years of experience designing, developing, and implementing network solutions
Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting complex Local Area Networking (LAN) issues and resolving Wide Area Networking (WAN) problems and supporting of cost-effective, high-performance IP and LAN/WAN solutions.
Extensive experience with Cisco routing platforms such as Aggregation Services Routers (ASRs)
Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of routing protocols and technologies including BGP, EIGRP, DMVPN, GRE
Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of Layer 2 technologies including STP, MST, VLANS
Experience providing Tier 3 support and issue resolution
Experience with network design and traffic engineering
Experience providing senior-level engineering support
Large enterprise environment experience
Excellent communication skills

Preferred Additional Skills and Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
Experience with Cisco Catalyst Center (DNAC) and SD-WAN operations
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher
Experience with SDWAN implementation and operations
Experience in network engineering within the federal intelligence community
Ability to adhere to a disciplined troubleshooting methodology, and ensure task/mission completion, along with creating and maintaining necessary information
Highly self-motivated and directed, with attention to detail
