Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Principal Network Architect to lead SRE-style development for a global connectivity platform. You will guide software development and reliability engineering to scale, automate, and secure critical edge services.

You will architect scalable infrastructure and mentor teams while aligning with industry standards, driving observability, and optimizing capacity across distributed systems.

Qualifications

• 15 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in network and software engineering.
• Expert proficiency in Python, Ansible, Kubernetes and Source of Truth platforms.
• Thrive in a dynamic environment with rapidly evolving requirements, leading with agility.
• Showcase expertise in large-scale IP routing and network fabric architectures.
• Experience designing cloud-native infrastructure, container orchestration, and IaC deployment frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural design and development software supporting Akamai's global connectivity platform.
• Drive software-defined automation to reduce toil and improve reliability of the network.
• Establish telemetry systems and observability stacks for real-time monitoring of global traffic and security services.
• Champion software engineering best practices, CI/CD pipelines, and SDLC standards across teams.
• Steer capacity planning and cost optimization across distributed routing, fabric, and edge security systems.
