Job summary

CDW is seeking a Senior Network Systems Engineer for the U.S. House of Representatives, CAO.

The role encompasses senior engineering analyses, design, testing, integration, and Level 3 operations across the House Data Network and numerous offices and sites. Responsibilities include evaluating WAN solutions, traffic engineering studies, and cost/benefit analyses while mentoring staff and coordinating complex network projects with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years designing and supporting large scale campus networks and/or WANs.
• Experience in contract management, project management, SDLC, and change management processes.
• Experience with Visio.
• Strong knowledge of BGP and Internet Routing.
• Knowledge of DMVPN and IPSEC VTIs.
• Knowledge of DWDM and Optical Transport Systems.
• Knowledge of TCP, UDP, QoS, DNS/DHCP, TLS/HTTPS, SNMP, EIGRP, and OSPF.
• Ability to communicate effectively with officials, senior staff, information systems professionals, and non-technical users.
• Eligibility for security clearance as required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and recommends wide-area networking solutions.
• Develops traffic engineering studies and analyses for data network requirements.
• Performs cost/benefit analyses on competing data communication methods.
• Designs complex integrated networks and develops service specifications.
• Assists in RFP/RFQ preparation and evaluation of reliable, cost-effective WAN options.
• Provides senior operational support for day-to-day WAN/LAN operations.
• Monitors performance and bandwidth utilization of network systems.
• Keeps abreast of telecom technology changes and applies standards.
• Trains staff and provides technical guidance to junior engineers.
• Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
