Job summary

CDW is seeking a Senior Network Systems Engineer for the House of Representatives, Network Engineering and Operations. The role requires senior-level WAN/LAN design, testing, integration, and operational support for the House Data Network, including 820+ District Offices and multiple BC/DR sites.

Candidates should have 5+ years of experience in large-scale networks, strong BGP/IP routing skills, and experience with SDLC/contract management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience designing and supporting large scale campus networks and/or wide-area networks.
• Experience in contract management, project management, SDLC, and change management processes required.
• Experience with Visio.
• Strong knowledge of BGP and Internet Routing.
• Knowledge of DWDM and Optical Transport Systems.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and recommends commercially available, standards compliant wide-area networking solutions.
• Develops traffic engineering studies and analyses to determine data network requirements.
• Performs cost/benefit analysis on competing methods of providing data communications.
• Designs complex integrated communication networks and develops network service specifications and procedures.
• Assists in the preparation of Request for Proposals and Request for Quotations; reviews and evaluates reliable, cost-effective, and efficient wide-area communications for the House.
• Provides senior level operational support on day to day operations and resolution to complex WAN/LAN problems.
• Conducts performance and bandwidth utilization monitoring of wide-area communication systems.
• Trains other House staff in telecommunications technologies and provides technical guidance to junior level engineers.
