Job summary

O'Reilly Auto Parts is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to lead enterprise network evaluations across multisite environments. You will focus on SD-WAN, Zero Trust security, LAN/Data Center infrastructure, and core routing architectures to deliver low-latency, secure connectivity for high-traffic retail operations.

The role requires mentoring junior engineers, driving architectural standards, and serving as an escalation point for complex network issues.

Qualifications

• Experience with SD-WAN, Zero Trust security, and enterprise networking across multisite environments.
• Strong knowledge of BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP routing protocols.
• Design and manage scalable LAN/Data Center architectures with security controls.
• Excellent communication and leadership for mentoring junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Drive SD-WAN, core routing, and switching architectures to improve efficiency and lower costs.
• Design and manage LAN, Data Center, and client/server networks; provide escalation for global infra solutions.
• Implement Zero Trust access, micro-segmentation, and security controls across the network.
• Recommend technical developments to improve security, quality, and scalability of core networking.
• Collect requirements via interviews and workshops; test networks, monitor performance, diagnose latency issues.
• Explore emerging networking tech to assess business impact and benefits.
• Provide fault isolation and root-cause analysis to limit downtime.
• Draft engineering standards, routing policies, and configuration specs; document current and target states.
• Mentor associate and mid-level engineers on complex troubleshooting, WAN bottlenecks.
• Participate in on-call rotation and provide rapid response to outages or security incidents.
• Keep up with core routing, Zero Trust, and LAN/WAN best practices through training and certifications.
