Job summary
San Diego State University is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer/Architect to design and modernize SDSU's enterprise wired and wireless networks across campuses and data centers. You will lead architecture, oversee L2/L3 routing, network security, observability, and multi-year roadmaps, mentoring other engineers and coordinating with vendors and campus partners.
Telecommuting up to 2 days per week is supported.
Qualifications
- Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field and five years of relevant experience.
- Advanced certifications (CCIE/CCNP, Aruba, PCNSE, CCNA/Azure networking) are a plus.
- Experience designing and engineering large-scale enterprise wired and wireless networks.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, security, and observability.
- Experience leading network infrastructure projects and migrations.
- Ability to coordinate vendors, academics, facilities, and service providers.
Responsibilities
- Design and evolve enterprise wired, wireless, core, WAN/Internet, data center, and research networks.
- Lead complex projects from design through migration, testing, deployment, and operational transition.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to network engineers and analysts.
- Review vendor designs to ensure security, resiliency, and architectural standards.
