Job summary

Lumen Technologies is seeking a Lead IT Systems Engineer in a remote-enabled role that supports laboratory network infrastructure and applications. The position emphasizes Layer 2/Layer 3 protocols, security, and high-availability designs within a security-conscious environment.

The candidate will lead projects, develop documentation, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with technology partners to meet customer requirements and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• - Experience with Layer 2/3 routing and switching and related protocols.
• - Knowledge of network security requirements and cryptographic devices.
• - Ability to write technical documents and reports.
• - TS/SCI security clearance required.

Responsibilities

• - Maintain health of laboratory network equipment (switches, routers, firewalls).
• - Lead technical projects from conception to transition to operations.
• - Create network drawings, test plans and implementation docs.
• - Design enterprise network including IP schemas, routing, segmentation and security.
• - Provide Tier III support for enterprise network operations.
• - Mentor junior engineers and share technical guidance.
• - Stay updated on security practices and emerging threats.
• - Perform ongoing education in relevant disciplines.
• - Other duties as assigned by management.
