Job summary

Capital Credit Union is seeking a Network Administrator to manage and maintain the organization’s computer networks, including LAN, WAN, and wireless networks. You will monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement upgrades to ensure systems run securely and reliably in support of business operations.

The role requires 3–5 years in network administration, a Bachelor’s in CS/IT, and hands-on experience with routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and network security.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 3–5 years of experience in network administration, systems administration, or a similar technical role.
  • Strong knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, security practices, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, and VLANs.
  • Experience with network automation, monitoring and management tools.
  • Proficiency in network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users.
  • Willingness to work outside of normal business hours.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, maintain, and support the organization’s network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPNs.
  • Perform regular network monitoring and analysis to identify issues, optimize performance, and ensure high availability.
  • Manage network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, access controls, and encryption.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant security standards and policies.
  • Provide timely resolution of network-related issues and support requests from end-users and other ITS Teams.
  • Diagnose and resolve network problems, including connectivity issues, hardware failures, and configuration errors.
  • Configure VLANs, routing protocols, and IP address schemes.
  • Perform routine network maintenance such as firmware updates, backups, and patch management.
  • Develop and maintain network backup and disaster recovery plans.
  • Test and update recovery procedures to ensure business continuity.
  • Collaborate with ITS Teams and vendors on network-related projects.
  • Communicate network status, issues, and resolutions to management.
  • Stay up to date with regulatory, technical, industry developments as they relate to Credit Union operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Infrastructure Manager.
  • Identify improvements and efficiency of processes and systems.
  • Provide support during and after business hours.
