• 7+ years of experience designing, configuring, and administering enterprise network infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead the configuration, deployment, and administration of Cisco Catalyst 9300 switching infrastructure.
• Design and implement Layer 2 and Layer 3 network solutions, including VLANs, routing, QoS, redundancy, and security controls.
• Manage network performance, availability, and lifecycle activities, including software upgrades, patching, and configuration management.
• Troubleshoot complex network, switching, and connectivity issues across operational environments.
• Implement and maintain network security controls, including ACLs, multicast, 802.1X, port security, and device hardening.
• Develop and maintain network architecture diagrams, configuration baselines, and technical documentation.
• Support VCS integration, migration, modernization, and sustainment activities.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior network administrators and technicians.
• Coordinate with cybersecurity, systems engineering, and customer stakeholders to ensure compliance and operational readiness.

Recently named by Newsweek as one of the Best American Mid‑Sized Workplaces in 2026, Rohde & Schwarz is seeking an experienced Senior Network Administrator for our System Engineering organization to support a large air traffic control government program deploying voice communication systems. The work location for this position is split between our Columbia/Frederick, MD office locations, averaging 3 days per week on site and 2 days per week working from home. The Senior Network Administrator is responsible for the design, configuration, administration, and sustainment of mission‑critical Voice Communication System (VCS) network infrastructure. Operating at a level comparable to a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or similar, this role provides technical leadership for Cisco Catalyst 9300 switching environments, ensuring secure, reliable, and high‑availability network operations in support of customer and operational requirements. US citizenship is a customer requirement for this role.

Your tasks

Your Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Cisco CCNP Enterprise certification required or equivalent experience required
• 7+ years of experience designing, configuring, and administering enterprise network infrastructure.
• Extensive hands‑on experience with Cisco Catalyst 9300 switches and Cisco IOS‑XE.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, IPv6, VLANs, multicast, HSRP, STP, EtherChannel, OSPF, static routing, QoS, and network security principles.
• Experience supporting highly available, mission‑critical voice, communications, or network systems.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.ii
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• In order to be considered, candidates must reside in the US and be a U.S. citizen capable of receiving a US Government security clearance or public trust

The total compensation for this position is $90K-$120K. Total compensation includes base salary, variable pay (when applicable) plus benefits. The range is determined by the position, geographic location and level. Individual pay within the range is determined by several factors including location, education or training, relevant work history, sales incentive structure and job‑related skills.
