About the Role

Our client, a leading provider of managed IT services, is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Remote Network Infrastructure Engineer to join their dispersed team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from your home office anywhere in South Africa. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of robust network infrastructures for a diverse client base, primarily supporting operations connected to the East London, Eastern Cape region but with national and international reach. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and cloud networking solutions. You should be adept at troubleshooting complex network issues and ensuring high availability and security for our clients' critical systems. This role demands strong analytical skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to manage projects and provide support in a remote, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage complex network infrastructures, including LANs, WANs, and wireless networks.
• Configure and maintain network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers from various vendors.
• Implement and manage VPN solutions, ensuring secure remote access for clients.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in network engineering and infrastructure management.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF), switching technologies, and network security principles.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise-grade firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA) and VPN technologies.
• Experience with cloud networking platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is highly desirable.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, or equivalent are strongly preferred.
• Excellent remote troubleshooting skills and experience with network monitoring tools.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Must have a reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated home office space.
