Job description

This role requires a highly motivated, positive, organized, and experienced individual with a strong record of delivery in a constantly evolving environment.

Working as a key member of Tenaska’s Enterprise Technology team, the Senior Network Administrator prioritizes security, availability, and performance daily. The ideal candidate facilitates change, seeks improvement, and aims to positively impact and protect organizational operations. They are passionate about technology, eager to explore new solutions, and committed to delivering excellent customer experience. They manage the network's current state, ensure systems operate as intended, and document and resolve issues to prevent future problems. They serve as the frontline troubleshooters across the network infrastructure.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Ensure network deployments and changes comply with security protocols.
  2. Support remote hardware and services, including on-premises and cloud connectivity, switching, routing, firewalls, SD-WAN, and wireless technologies.
  3. Coordinate with internet service providers and track deployment of new circuits.
  4. Experience with protocols like BGP, OSPF, IPSec, RSTP, MSTP, HSRP, MACsec, IPFIX, SNMPv3, DMVPN.
  5. Provide excellent customer service and collaborate effectively with team members and partners.
  6. Plan and execute network migrations, installs, upgrades, and changes with colleagues and remote personnel.
  7. Communicate technical details clearly to customers.
  8. Maintain network configurations and monitor network health.
  9. Design and implement automation for routine tasks.
  10. Participate in 24/7 on-call duties to resolve production issues.
  11. Analyze system performance and optimize as needed.
  12. Collaborate on cross-functional infrastructure projects.
  13. Document network infrastructure thoroughly.
Education/Experience/Skills
  1. Bachelor’s degree in MIS, CS, or related field required; relevant military or professional experience may substitute.
  2. At least 3 years supporting multi-vendor networks (Cisco, Palo Alto, Azure, Meraki, Fortinet), including routing, firewalls, SD-WAN/VPN.
  3. Certifications like CCNA, PCNSA are highly desired.
  4. Customer-facing experience is essential.
Preferred Experience
  1. Hands-on with switching, firewalls, routing, BGP, IPSEC VPN, OSPF, DNS, DHCP, Spanning Tree.
  2. Experience with Meraki, Cisco, Juniper, FortiGate, Palo Alto, Azure.
  3. Data management and organization skills.
  4. Familiarity with SolarWinds Hybrid Cloud Observability platform.
  5. Exposure to Agile methodologies.
  6. Relevant industry certifications such as CCNP, PCNSE, FortiGate, or Juniper.
