Job summary
GFT seeks an experienced Principal Environmental Planner/NEPA Lead to join our Environmental team in Chicago, IL. The role focuses on leading NEPA clearance for transportation and infrastructure projects, with potential project management responsibilities and cross-functional collaboration.
You will mentor staff, manage client relationships, and contribute to business development and growth strategies. AICP/PMP preferred; Bachelor's or Master's in planning, environmental science, or engineering,
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in planning, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
- 20 years of progressive experience in environmental planning and NEPA or similar.
- Ability to prepare technical proposals and fee estimates for large projects.
- Strong leadership, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead NEPA and permitting efforts and oversee environmental documents.
- Mentor staff, manage client relationships, and monitor budgets and schedules.
- Serve as project leader or environmental lead on transportation projects.
- Develop and execute growth strategies and support business development.
- Coordinate with engineering teams and external regulators as needed.
