Job summary

Volkert is seeking an experienced Environmental and NEPA Manager to support transportation NEPA projects in Alabama. The role requires leading NEPA studies, coordinating with teams, and guiding public involvement to ensure on-time, within-budget project delivery.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of NEPA/transportation planning experience, a relevant degree, and strong communication skills. GIS is a plus; a valid MVR and driver’s license are expected.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of experience in transportation/NEPA planning.
B.S. or M.S. in Planning, Environmental Science, or related field.
GIS experience is a plus.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaborative team skills.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and maintain safety standards.

Responsibilities

Prepare NEPA studies for federally funded projects, including CE/EA/EIS.
Coordinate with internal project teams.
Perform site visits for projects as required.
Lead public involvement for environmental projects.
Manage projects to meet budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
Assist in business development for environmental projects.
