Job summary

Blue Origin in Seattle seeks a Senior Navigation Engineer within the GNC and Avionics team to design, analyze, and test navigation algorithms, including Kalman filters for INS, to advance spaceflight capabilities.

You will model sensors, lead integration across engineering disciplines, and develop thorough test plans for simulation and hardware-in-the-loop, mentoring peers along the way.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required in Aerospace/EE or related field.
• 5–10 years of navigation systems analysis, design, and testing experience.
• Expertise in designing and implementing Kalman filters for INS.
• Strong understanding of inertial sensors and GPS technology.
• Proficient in MATLAB/Simulink for modeling and analysis.
• Proficient in C++ or Python for algorithms development and data analysis.
• Experience leading technical projects and mentoring engineers.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• U.S. citizenship or eligible status required.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement advanced navigation and estimation algorithms (Kalman filters for INS).
• Model and simulate inertial sensors and GPS to analyze performance.
• Lead integration of navigation components into the GNC/avionics architecture.
• Develop and execute test plans in simulation and hardware-in-the-loop environments.
• Analyze sensor data to calibrate IMUs and other navigation sensors.
• Troubleshoot and resolve navigation-related issues during testing and operations.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership in navigation systems.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems teams to deliver integrated solutions.
