Qualifications

• Knowledge of facilitating group discussions; analyzing situations to define issues and draw conclusions; policies, regulations and/or laws; age appropriate activities; lesson plan requirements; stages of child development; and behavioral management strategies.
• Skill-based: applying assessment instruments; operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
• Ability to inspire enthusiasm for learning; creative thinking, problem solving; time management; working with diverse individuals; maintaining confidentiality; tact and patience.

Responsibilities

• Instructs and conducts training with cadets in the NJROTC curriculum.
• Develops long and short range plans for curriculum goals using appropriate materials.
• Establishes clear objectives for lessons and formulates lesson plans.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and the personal growth of students.
• Evaluates student progress and counsels cadets on their performance within the program.
• Organizes, supervises and participates in extracurricular activities for cadets.
• Maintains NJROTC student records as required by Navy regulations.
• Complies with Navy safety guidelines when instructing, supervising, monitoring, and accompanying cadets.
