Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a Controls and Simulation Engineer Level 5 to support development and testing of turbine generators for Navy propulsion and power systems. Onsite four days a week.

You will model multi-physics systems, perform stability analyses, and build state-space and nonlinear simulation models using MATLAB/Simulink. US citizen and ability to obtain a Secret clearance required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in STEM with 12 years' relevant experience; or Master’s with 10 years; or PhD with 7 years.
Experience in frequency-domain analysis and system stability characterization.
Proficiency with block diagrams, linear algebra and grey-box model validation.
Proficiency in MATLAB coding and Simulink modeling; ability to build state-space models.
Experience with numerical methods for solving differential equations; US citizen.
Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

Analyze control system performance using systems models and frequency-domain techniques.
Model dynamic multi-physics systems (mechanical, electrical, magnetic).
Apply model reduction for control design and perform linear stability analysis.
Develop nonlinear simulation models and parameterize uncertainty models.
Document work for knowledge sharing with engineering teams and customers.
