Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems seeks a Systems Controls and Simulation Engineer Level 5 for the development and ongoing support of turbine generator systems used in US Navy propulsion and power generation. The role is based in Sunnyvale, CA, with a strict onsite requirement and US citizenship for clearance.

You will analyze control system performance, build multi-physics models, and perform stability and uncertainty analyses while collaborating with the engineering community and customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline with 12 years relevant work experience.
• Master's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 10 years relevant experience.
• Ph.D in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 7 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience in frequency domain analysis.
• Experience characterizing and analyzing system stability.
• Proficiency with MATLAB coding and Simulink modeling.

Responsibilities

• Analyzing control system performance and requirements using systems models.
• Modeling dynamic multi-physics systems from first principles; mechanical, electrical, magnetic.
• Use model reduction methods to simplify systems for control design.
• Perform linear systems analysis.
• Perform stability analysis.
• Build and parameterize uncertainty models.
• Develop nonlinear simulation models.
• Document work to share with engineering community and customer.
• Must be onsite 4 days a week; remote work is not an option for this role.
