Job summary

Naval Nuclear Laboratory seeks engineers to serve as RPCO Field Engineers at Newport News Shipyard. The role focuses on integration of stakeholder efforts to ensure maintenance and construction success for naval nuclear ships.

The position requires working in a shipboard industrial environment with ship's force and leadership, providing technical direction, and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements. 8–10 months of qualification precedes the Field (RPCO) Engineer title.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience.
Master's degree in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
Doctorate degree in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
Currently a Principal Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.

Responsibilities

Provide technical direction for problem resolution and oversee compliance with contractual requirements.
Conduct installation, testing, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of complex equipment and nuclear systems.
Engage with ship's force, shipyard leadership, and Naval Reactors to ensure safety and reliability.
Identify and prevent problems to avoid impacts to cost and ship delivery schedules.
