Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants in Florida is seeking a Senior Natural Resources Scientist to support our Energy and Energy Transition practice across Boca Raton, Jacksonville, Pensacola, or Tampa.

You will apply technical expertise to complex environmental permitting and planning projects throughout Florida and the southeastern United States, including energy, utility, transportation, and coastal resilience projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources, Environmental Planning, Environmental Engineering, Forestry, Wildlife Biology, or related discipline (required).
• Master's degree in related field preferred.
• Professional certifications such as PWS, Certified Ecologist, Certified Wildlife Biologist, CEP, or similar credentials (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Conduct wetland and surface water delineations per USACE methodologies and Florida requirements.
• Lead environmental permitting efforts with agencies including USACE, FDEP, WMDs, FWC, NMFS, and USFWS.
• Prepare permit applications and supporting documentation for CWA 404/401, ERP, sovereign submerged land, coastal permits, and related approvals.
• Conduct ecological assessments, habitat evaluations, species surveys, and inventories.
• Support NEPA compliance documents (EA, EIS, EPs) and other state environmental reviews.
• Manage natural resource components of large infrastructure, utility, renewable energy, transmission, pipeline, and transportation projects.
• Develop work plans, collect/analyze environmental data, prepare reports, and present findings to clients/regulators.
• Contribute to business development, proposals, and client relationships; mentor junior staff.
