Job summary

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is seeking a Senior Technical Manager, Production Operations to lead museum-wide event production, staffing strategy, and technical standards across hundreds of events annually.

You will collaborate with AVMS leadership, union technicians, and stakeholders to ensure compliant, high-quality productions, while driving workforce efficiency and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Over 8–10+ years in live event production, or related fields.
• Experience supervising technical teams and handling complex productions.
• Familiarity with union environments and collective bargaining frameworks.
• Proven ability to plan staffing, scheduling, and payroll workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead production portfolios (Met Live Arts, film, high-profile events) from planning to post-event reconciliation.
• Provide technical leadership across audio, video, lighting, livestreaming, and show control.
• Ensure staffing strategy, documentation, run-of-show, risk management, and standards compliance.
• Manage workforce, onboarding, training, payroll reviews, and scheduling.
• Oversee procurement, vendor relationships, budgets, and equipment lifecycle.
