Job summary

Tetra Tech's Water Team in California seeks a municipal project manager/senior civil engineer to lead civil infrastructure projects while staying engaged in technical design. This hybrid/remote role focuses on treatment facilities, storage, collection systems, pump stations, and other water-related projects to deliver sustainable solutions and reliable water delivery.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
PE license in California and 10+ years of municipal infrastructure experience.
Proven experience managing water, wastewater, and drainage projects for municipal/state clients.
Strong client-facing communication and public presentation skills.
Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and balance technical and client responsibilities.
Ability to develop and price scopes of work for competitive pursuits.
Active participation in conferences and meetings to raise visibility in the water market.
Commitment to mentorship, sustainability, and long-term infrastructure solutions.
Experience leading design, reports, construction documentation, and QA/QC.

Responsibilities

Serve as primary client liaison for municipal clients, maintaining strong relationships.
Lead and manage projects including water/wastewater treatment, distribution and transmission mains, wastewater collection, trunk and force main, pumping stations, wells, storage tanks, civil grading, drainage, as well as rehabilitation of existing infrastructure.
Guide teams on design and reporting for high-quality, timely deliverables.
Ensure team alignment throughout project delivery.
Perform design calculations, analyses, and prepare construction documentation.
Scope projects, negotiate contracts, support business development activities, and represent Tetra Tech at industry events and oversee technical quality, budgets, and schedules.
Mentor project engineers and junior staff while promoting professional development.
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver innovative municipal solutions.
Drive excellence in project delivery by ensuring technical accuracy and complete documentation.
