Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is hiring a Maintenance Repairman 2 to support Norristown State Hospital. The role covers skilled maintenance across plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and safety compliance to keep facilities safe and comfortable.

Responsibilities include repairing pipes and fixtures, inspecting electrical systems, remodeling walls, and painting surfaces. The position requires driving license and PA residency per requirements.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) ; or
• Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades ; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities .

Responsibilities

• Plumbing Repairs: Repair pipes, fixtures, valves, traps, drains, pumps, and heating equipment
• Electrical Work: Inspect, repair, and maintain lighting, wiring, motors, and other electrical systems
• Carpentry Tasks: Remodel walls, ceilings, and floors and build items such as scaffolding, cabinets, and shelving
• Painting Duties: Prepare surfaces, mix paint, and apply finishes to interior and exterior areas
• Equipment Use: Operate hand and power tools safely while completing repairs and maintenance
• Safety Compliance: Follow safety procedures, maintain clean work areas, and participate in asbestos abatement as required
