Job summary

NC Department of Adult Correction seeks a Maintenance/Construction Technician III (S) at the George W. Randall Building Complex in Raleigh, NC. The role performs routine and corrective maintenance across building systems, requiring journeyman skills in multiple trades and capable supervision of team members.

The position coordinates preventive maintenance, material inventory, and minor repairs to ensure safe, efficient facility operation in accordance with departmental standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; two years of progressive experience in the trades.
• Journeyman level in two or more trades: mechanical, plumbing, electrical, HVAC/Refrigeration, carpentry.
• EPA Type I/II/III or Universal certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on building systems.
• Repair and maintain generators, plumbing, electrical, HVAC/Refrigeration, boiler systems.
• Supervise skilled, semi-skilled, and inmate labor as needed.
