Job summary

Craven County Government is seeking a skilled maintenance worker to perform journeyman duties across carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, masonry, HVAC, refrigeration and control systems. Duties include repairing fixtures, maintaining building systems, reading blueprints and supervising staff as needed.

Ideal candidates have high school completion, substantial trade experience and relevant certifications, plus a valid North Carolina driver’s license.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Considerable experience in construction or building maintenance trades.
Certification or licenses in at least one of the listed trades.
Valid North Carolina driver's license.

Responsibilities

Perform journeyman level skilled maintenance and repair work across carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, masonry, HVAC, refrigeration, pneumatics, hydraulics and control systems.
Carry out general carpentry for repairs or alterations to floors, roofs, doors and windows.
Replace faulty electrical components, hang sheetrock and finish walls, sand and paint.
Repair plumbing fixtures, analyze and fix defects in plumbing systems, and repair leaks.
Maintain HVAC, refrigeration, and environmental control systems; service CCTV and access control equipment.
Supervise semi-skilled or unskilled workers and ensure safe, efficient operations.
