Job summary

Capitol Engineering Co. is seeking a Welder/Fitter 3 for our Phoenix fabrication shop. This senior role performs complex, high-quality welds across multiple processes on carbon steel, stainless, aluminum, and AR plate, following blueprints and WPS.

You will mentor junior welders, read full engineering drawings, and ensure safety and quality standards on the shop floor. We require 8+ years of production welding/fabrication experience, full qualification across MIG, Flux-Core, Stick, and TIG, and

Qualifications

8+ years of production welding and/or fabrication experience across multiple product types and materials in a custom fabrication environment.
Full-position welder qualifications (1F-4F, 1G-4G) in MIG, Flux-Core, Stick, and TIG per applicable welding code or WPS.

Responsibilities

Perform multi-process welding (MIG, Flux-Core, Stick, TIG) in all positions.
Handle complex welds: multi-pass welds, heavy plate, tank seams, wear components with quality and safety compliance.
Weld on carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and AR plate with correct fillers and procedures.
Verify pre-weld conditions: fit-up, cleanliness, material IDs, WPS, and special product requirements.
Perform advanced fit-up and layout on large assemblies using blueprints as reference.
Provide mentorship and leadership on welding technique, WPS application, and safety.
