Job summary

Capitol Engineering is seeking a Welder / Fitter 1 for our Phoenix fabrication shop. This hands-on role combines MIG and Flux‑Core welding with fit-up and assembly across carbon steel, stainless, aluminum, and AR plate.

You will operate welding equipment, read work orders, and verify dimensions using layout tools. The position offers a clear path to grow into fitter or welder qualifications with company support.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of production welding and/or fabrication experience across multiple product types.
• Active welder qualification using GMAW (MIG) per applicable code or WPS, and/or demonstrated fit‑up/assembly ability.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG and Flux‑Core welding on assigned workpieces in qualified positions per WPS and quality standards.
• Weld various product types including structural components, tanks, ducting, and frames per work orders.
• Set up welding equipment and adjust parameters per WPS and material configuration.
• Perform tack welding and position components for assemblies.
• Inspect welds and verify dimensions with layout tools before final welding.
• Report fit‑up discrepancies or missing information to the Shop Lead.
