Job summary

Draper in Cambridge, MA is seeking a senior-level technician to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot multi-axis motion-control tables used for precision testing. You will calibrate and verify table performance for every test cycle, ensuring readiness and reliability of lab equipment.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance on table hardware and electronics, logging actions in CMMS, and mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years operating, maintaining, or troubleshooting multi-axis motion-control tables.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with precision tools and calibration experience.
• Familiar with lab safety, documentation, and data logging practices.

Responsibilities

• Operate 1–3 axis tables per test procedures, load payloads, configure motion profiles, and run automated tests with minimal supervision.
• Perform preventive maintenance on drive electronics, encoders, bearings, and subsystems; log actions in CMMS.
• Diagnose faults using diagnostics tools and logs; calibrate positioning accuracy and dynamic response.
• Maintain SOPs, train junior staff, and support general lab activities as needed.
