Job summary

Draper is seeking a Senior Environmental Technician to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot multi-axis motion-control tables at our Cambridge, MA facility. You will calibrate performance, log testing data, and support both scheduled and unscheduled test activities.

The role requires 5+ years working with motion-control equipment, an Associate-degree or higher in Engineering Technology, and eligibility to obtain a US government security clearance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' direct experience operating multi-axis motion-control tables (commercial or government labs).
• Associate-degree (Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Technology) or higher, or equivalent experience.
• Must be able to obtain/maintain a US government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Operate single, two, and three axis tables per test procedures.
• Perform preventive maintenance on table drive electronics, encoders, bearings, and subsystems; log actions in CMMS.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot table faults using diagnostics and vendor software tools.
• Calibrate and verify table positioning accuracy and dynamic response before test campaigns.
• Maintain SOPs for table operation, safety interlocks, and change-over procedures; train junior staff.
