Job summary

IntelliBee is seeking a SQL Server / Cloud DBA to join the Tolling Engineering and Operations Team. You will administer SQL Server and cloud databases and participate in help desk and application support shifts.

The role requires strong T-SQL skills, experience with HA configurations, and Azure Cloud familiarity. You will monitor uptime, troubleshoot connectivity and security issues, and work with Engineering and Ops to optimize database tasks.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Microsoft SQL Server experience.
• 1+ year Azure, Snowflake, or Databricks experience; certification acceptable.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS or related field required.
• Demonstrated experience in communicating requirements and design artifacts.

Responsibilities

• Monitor databases to maintain uptime and availability.
• Troubleshoot connectivity, access, and security issues.
• Tune long running SQL queries.
• Review and refine database tasks and processes to align with priorities.
• Leverage OS scripting for maintenance/diagnosis/support.
• Review existing database implementation and propose/execute changes.

Client group is seeking a SQL Server / Cloud DBA to join the Tolling Eng and Ops Team to administer and support SQL Server and cloud databases in the Tolling group; the role also includes help desk and application support responsibilities.

Client is seeking a SQL Server database / Cloud database administrator to join the Tolling Engineering and Operations Team. The selected candidate will administer and support SQL Server and cloud databases in the Tolling group. Additional help desk and application support responsibilities will be part of rotation with the Tolling team.

The selected candidate has:

• Expertise working as a SQL Server DBA
• Expertise working with SQL clustering, mirroring and high availability
• Experience working with large SQL databases
• Expertise in writing Transact SQL
• Expertise in installing, upgrading, patching and migrating SQL Server databases
• Experience working on a Windows platform
• Exposure to SSIS, SSAS, & SSRS
• Experience working with Azure Cloud

The selected candidate will:

• Monitor databases to maintain/ensure database uptime and availability.
• Troubleshoot application/database issues related to connectivity, access, security, etc.
• Tune long running SQL
• Review & refine existing database tasks and processes to better align with agency/group priorities.
• Leverage & utilize O/S scripting utilities in support of database maintenance/diagnosis/support.
• Review the existing database implementation and propose, execute, and/or direct necessary changes.
• Perform SQL Server installations (2022,2025+ w/ failover clustering).
• Knowledgeable of data modeling principles

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of experience w/ Microsoft SQL Server database
• At least 1 year of Azure, Snowflake, or Databricks experience (a certification is acceptable in lieu of experience)
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or other applicable and/or equivalent skills, knowledge and/or work history
• Demonstrated experience in communicating effectively using standard requirements and design artifacts

Desired knowledge of and experience with the following technologies:

• SQL Server 2019+
• Cloud databases (Azure, Snowflake, and/or Databricks)

Special Instructions to Applicants:

• This position requires a fingerprint-based background check.
• The successful contractor will be required to continue education at own expense to stay current with VDOT technologies.
