Job summary

Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA is seeking a senior Product Development Engineer for Motorsports Accessories in Kennesaw, GA. You will own end-to-end design from concept through production release, lead component design, and work with testing and manufacturing teams to ensure performance, durability, and cost targets are met.

The role requires a mechanical engineering degree with 6–10 years in design and CAD experience (SolidWorks/NX).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
  • 6–10 years of progressive mechanical design experience through production release.
  • Experience in motorsports, powersports, automotive, or other high-performance mechanical systems preferred.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks and NX or equivalent CAD tools.
  • Strong understanding of DFx (DFM/ DFA) and GD&T per ANSI/ASME Y14.5.
  • Experience with release management in SolidWorks PDM or similar systems.
  • Familiarity with project management tools (Smartsheet, Asana) and Stage Gate framework.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end design and development of motorsports accessories from concept to production release, including prototyping, CAD, drawings, BOMs, and instruction sheets.
  • Act as technical owner for components or subsystems, guiding decisions to meet standards, cost targets, and production readiness.
  • Collaborate with testing teams to validate performance, durability, and reliability.
  • Analyze test data, identify risks, and drive design iterations or mitigation plans.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to communicate design intent and resolve issues.
  • Support manufacturing readiness through design reviews, tolerance analysis, and issue resolution.
  • Coordinate activities with Product Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and Testing to meet project objectives.
