Job summary

Massachusetts Department of Transportation seeks a skilled Motor Equipment Mechanic III to inspect, troubleshoot, and repair a range of motor vehicles and equipment used by agency personnel.

Responsibilities include overhauling engines, servicing brakes, tires, electrical systems and performing road tests to ensure safe operation. A supervisory role and MA CDL Class B hoisting licenses are required.

Qualifications

  • Three years of full-time experience in repair, maintenance and overhaul of automotive equipment.
  • One year in a supervisory role or equivalent leadership experience.
  • Valid MA Class B CDL and hoisting licenses are required.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot and repair motor vehicles and equipment.
  • Overhaul, rebuild engines and transmissions per manufacturer specs.
  • Service vehicles by changing tires, adjusting brakes and lubricating parts.
  • Perform electrical repairs and diagnose electronic control systems.
  • Road test vehicles and supervise maintenance operations.
