Motional in Boston (hybrid) is hiring a Motion Planning Engineer to advance production-ready autonomous vehicle capabilities. You will research, design, and implement performance-critical algorithms for safe, comfortable vehicle behavior across Motional’s robotaxis.

We expect 3-5+ years in C++ with MPC and optimization experience. Collaboration with ML planning and vehicle control teams is essential, with hybrid in-office options in Boston or Pittsburgh.

Formación

• 3-5+ years of C++ software development.
• Bachelors, Masters, or PhD degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with Model Predictive Control (MPC), motion planning, planning under uncertainty, vehicle dynamics and simulation environments.
• Understanding of numerical optimization algorithms (interior point method, sequential quadratic programming, etc).
• Experience with optimization solvers (IPOPT, Gurobi, etc).
• Past experience owning and leading technical development on features from problem formulation, algorithm design, through implementation.
• Knowledge of Python is a bonus.

Responsabilidades

• Develop motion control and trajectory optimization algorithms for safe vehicle motion.
• Design and build robust software enabling real on-road impact across Motional's fleet.
• Provide high-quality code and design reviews (C++) based on service knowledge.
• Leverage testing, simulation, and CI tools to enable rapid development cycles.
• Explain trade-offs and complex concepts to peers and leaders to drive decisions.
• Collaborate with ML planning, prediction, and control teams for integrated solutions.
• Create proposals driving long-term technical roadmaps across subsystems.
• Mentor junior team members to culture of product-focused engineering.
