Job summary

AmeriHome Mortgage, a Western Alliance Bank company, seeks a Senior Vice President, Senior Director Underwriting to lead underwriting and appraisal functions across all channels. You will align with risk appetite, drive productivity, and build agency and non-agency partnerships while ensuring loan quality and regulatory compliance.

You will collaborate with product and technology to implement automation and AI tools to improve efficiency and customer experience, while managing leadership teams

Qualifications

• 15+ years of related experience in Residential Mortgage Loan Underwriting.
• Wholesale Mortgage Lending experience.
• Bachelor's degree in related field; Masters or MBA preferred.
• 8+ years of experience in residential mortgage underwriting management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Experience with digital mortgage platforms and automation tools.
• Advanced knowledge of federal and state regulatory obligations, TRID, ECOA, HMDA, FCRA, and related standards.
• DE or SAR designation is required.
• Occasional travel required.

Responsibilities

• Build, lead, and empower credit operations teams balancing sales, underwriting, and risk.
• Drive strategy and capacity for Correspondent and Retail Lending divisions and improve service levels.
• Partner with product and technology to deploy automation and AI tools for underwriting.
• Ensure compliance with policies and regulatory requirements and manage performance metrics.
• Recruit, coach, and mentor underwriting staff and maintain quality and efficiency.
• Lead and develop a team, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
