Job summary

Bank of America is seeking a seasoned mortgage legal counsel to provide strategic guidance on conventional and government mortgage origination activities, including high net worth and customized programs.

You will partner with compliance, risk, audit, and product teams to navigate regulatory changes, product development, and digital mortgage initiatives while ensuring strict adherence to mortgage laws and investor guidelines.

Qualifications

• Active membership in at least one state bar.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience practicing law with residential mortgage lending experience.
• Experience advising on mortgage origination products and processes.
• Strong understanding of mortgage industry practices and workflows.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and strategic guidance on conventional and government inured residential mortgage origination activities, products, processes, and initiatives.
• Counsel business partners on jumbo, high net worth, asset-based, relationship-based, and other customized mortgage lending programs.
• Provide legal analysis on mortgage product development, underwriting practices, pricing considerations, disclosures, advertising, digital applications, and secondary market eligibility requirements.
• Partner with compliance, risk, audit, operations, and product teams to assess and mitigate legal and regulatory risk.
• Support examinations, regulatory inquiries, audits, investigations, and remediation initiatives.
• Participate in strategic projects involving technology modernization, digital mortgage initiatives, automation, AI, and process improvements.
