Job summary

Abbott in California is seeking a Senior Mobile Software Research & Development Engineer to translate ideas into usable prototypes and products for Cardiac Rhythm Management mobile apps on Android and iOS. The position is based in Sylmar, CA or Sunnyvale, CA.

You will drive ideation, front-end research, prototyping, and hands-on development while collaborating with architecture, engineering, and marketing teams to deliver compliant, high-quality software in a regulated healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Participate in ideation, front-end research, prototyping through proof-of-concepts and product development of mobile features for Android and iOS CRM apps.
• Support technology maturation, market research, and clinical trials by collaborating with mobile software architect, clinical engineering, system engineering and marketing teams.
• Perform requirements gathering, design, coding and unit testing of mobile applications on Android & iOS; support verification and validation testing.
• Lead software development for one or more features; develop technical requirements, interface specs, architecture and detailed design; define test strategies and test cases.
• Ensure all development activities meet design specs, coding standards and regulatory requirements (FDA, EU-MDR).
• Analyze defects, perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Contribute to development or enhancement of test frameworks for automated testing across UI, network, and performance layers.
• Provide technical guidance to other developers; review project deliverables to ensure clarity, correctness and accuracy.
• Stay updated on mobile tech trends, OS updates, deployment strategies, cybersecurity, UI and testing environments.
• Balance market trends and user needs with emerging technologies (AI-ML, IoT, Cloud) within an Agile development context.
